An American Aesthetic Paint-Decorated Easel, late 19th c., probably Herter Bros., New York, with finialed turned uprights, floral garland, mortised splat, holding shelf on base with splayed legs and medial stretcher, retaining original paint decoration, height 80 in., width 26 in., depth 15 in. Note: An inlaid rosewood easel attributed to Herter Bros. of similar form to this lot sold as lot 670 in these rooms on July 30, 1999, and a labeled Herter bedroom suite from the estate of Connecticut Governor James Edward English with overall paint decoration in a manner similar to that on this easel was presented as lots 327-331 on December 3, 2001.
