An American Belleek Porcelain Berry Bowl and Saucer, c. 1886, marked by Ott and Brewer, Trenton, Ni, yellow lustre with gilt rims, bowl rim deeply scalloped, overall height 2in., diameter of saucer 5.5in. E200-300 Note: During the 1880s, American factories began to produce in quantity the fashionable porcelain known as American Belleek. Thin and finely molded to rival the Irish product, wares were sold in only the finest shops. Ott and Brewer began production of American Belleek in 1882 and later announced the availability of decorative articles such as tete-a-tete services, fancy tea cups and saucers, and flower baskets. The firm exhibited at the World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exhibition in New Orleans in 1884-85 They remained the design leader in American Belleek until 1893 when the firm ceased production. care items are faintly tinted with rose on blue lustre, while others reflect the Japanese influences of the American Aesthetic Movement.
