An American Carved Rosewood and Gilt-Incised Side Chair, c. 1860-1865 attributed to Herter Brothers, the tufted back with scrolled molded stiles, shaped scalloped seat rail and shell carved cabriole legs ending in modified hoof feet with turned discs and casters below. E1000-1500 Note: The scrolled "French" back on lot 366 is similar in design to that on a chair at Victoria Mansion, the c. 1858 Ruggles Sylvester Morse summer home in Portland, Maine, the interior of which is one of the oldest known Gustave Herter commissions.
