An American Classical Bronze-Mounted Mahogany Pier Table, c. 1830, New York, marble top, wide molded apron, tapered bronze-mounted columnar supports to the front, tapered pilasters with gilt capitals flanking the original mirror back, incurvate gilt-stenciled plinth, on acanthus-carved gilt feet, height 37 in., width 44 in., depth 18 1/4 in.
- Provenance: Provenance: The Estate of esteemed collector Gerald Lawhorn, Cypress Pond Plantation, Albany, GA. Note: The curved frieze, pilaster and column terminals, shaped plinth, and carved feet on this lot are identical to those on a stenciled mahogany pier table by a New York maker descended in the family of William Randall Cortland (New York) and now conserved by the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute.
