An American Classical Carved Mahogany and Rosewood Banded Pier Table, early 19th c., attributed to Anthony Quervelle, Philadelphia, original marble top, ogee-molded frieze, tapered Ionic columns to the front, tapered pilasters flanking the mirrored back, scalloped plinth, paw feet with lobed collars, height 40 in., width 43 in., depth 21 in.

  • Notes: Note: A gilt-stenciled mahogany pier table ordered from Anthony Quervelle by President Andrew Jackson in 1829 and currently in the White House collection has paw feet with gadrooned cuffs, and a concave plinth nearly identical to those on this lot. Reference: Boor, Philadelphia Empire Furniture, p. 237, fig 107.
