An American Classical Carved Mahogany Settee, early 19th c., Boston, rectangular upholstered back, rounded arms, arched foliate and volute terminals, deeply reeded seat rail, volute blocked feet, casters, height 34 in., width 60 in., depth 28 in. Note : This settee, with its rectilinear form and boldly carved embellishments, is part of a well-known group of Boston seat furniture influenced by English designers Peter and Michelangelo Nicholson and Thomas King.
