Description:

An American Classical Figured Mahogany Drop-Leaf Table, early 19th c., attributed to William Camp, with two drawers, the corners with distinctive scored ball pendants, beehive-turned stem, foliate-carved collar, arched reeded saber legs, casters, height 36 in., width 21 1/2 in., depth 16 in.

  • Notes: Note: The distinctive pointed reeding on the stem of this table is very similar to that found on the support of a mahogany center table also attributed to William Camp (Baltimore/Philadelphia fl. 1802-1823) sold by Neal Auction Company as lot 855 on May 21, 2006. This reeding is also seen in a proliferation of "spool turned" details in many examples by Baltimore makers, including those on the legs of a sideboard attributed to Camp descended in the Owings family and conserved by the Maryland Historical Society.
