An American Classical Figured Mahogany Work Table, c. 1825-1830, probably Duncan Phyfe, New York, having a cross-banded fold-over swivel top above two short and one long drawer, chamfered stem on a plinth base ending in blocked feet with casters, height 29 1/2 in., width 24 in., depth 14 in. Note: The finely figured and matched veneers, the sophisticated spreading molding at the stem and base, and the subtle curve of the four plinth terminations on lot 486 are similar to those on other examples from the Phyfe workshop, including a console table bearing the label of Duncan Phyfe & Sons owned by his daughter Eliza Phyfe Whitlock illustrated in Nancy McClelland.
