An American Classical Four Piece Coin Silver Tea Service, Southern, c 1840, unmarked, comprising two teapots, a two handled covered sugar and a creamer, vase forms on stepped pedestal bases, flat chased decoration of leaves above full part of the body, stamped scrollwork bands with thistles at foot and at shoulder, gadrooned bands on lip rim and at the bowl's juncture with the base, unusual foliate thumbpieces, chased flowers and foliage encircling under rims, faceted curved spouts with bird's head and open beak, teapot height 9 75in., 80.55 troy ozs. Provenance: Barrow family, West Feliciana Parish, LA.
