An American Classical Gilt Bronze-Mounted, Stenciled, and Faux Bois Mahogany Pier Table, early 19th c., New York, original rectangular Egyptian marble top, the frieze with grotesque and lyre decoration, tiger maple columnar supports, engaged pilasters flanking mirror plate, incurvate plinth with drum terminals, carved paw feet, height 35 3/4 in., width 42 3/4 in., depth 19 in.
- Notes: Note: A rosewood pier table attributed to Duncan Phyfe with reeded marble top, bronze collars, plinth, feet and dimensions nearly identical to those on the table featured here is illustrated in Feld. The Newest Fashion, p. 48; the bronze mounts and feet on this example also relate to a pier table attributed to Charles-Honoré Lannuier conserved by the Metropolitan Museum of (Kenny, et. al. Honoré Lannuier, Furniture Maker from Paris pp. 92, pl. 42).
