An American Classical Giltwood Pier Mirror, early 19th c., labeled ³Muhlenberg & Schmidt, New York², the projecting molded cornice with acorn pendants above a recessed frieze flanked by paterae, paired colonnettes with spiral fillets, the divided mirror plate over a cove plinth and corner blocks, retaining original gilt surface, mirror plates and backing, height 59 1/4 in., width 33 1/2 in. Note: Three mirrors labeled by Muhlenberg & Schmidt, New York City looking glass retailers active from c. 1809-1817, are archived in the Decorative Arts Photographic Collection of the Winterthur Museum.
