An American Classical Mahogany Armoire, c. 1840, retaining a partial paper label for Joseph Meeks and Sons, New York, the stepped and breakfronted cornice over a pair of doors with Gothic panels, on massive square tapering feet, height 94 in., width 72 in., depth 33 in. Note: An armoire of nearly identical design with similar Gothic- paneled doors appears in the well-known Joseph Meeks and Sons 'broadside', fig. 28.
