Lot 128
Description:
An American Classical Mahogany Card Table, early 19th c., attributed to Duncan Phyfe, New York, scalloped foldover top, bookmatched frieze with central tablet, on tapered reeded legs ending in brass paw feet, height 29 1/4 in., width 36 in., depth 17 3/4 in.
- Notes: Note: The tablet skirt, reeded legs, and paw feet on this example are very similar to those on a "five legged card table" by Duncan Phyfe once in the Castles collection. Notably, the table offered here has a lobed top, more sophisticated than the Castles example. Reference: McClelland. Duncan Phyfe and the English Regency 1795-1830. p. 157, pl. 138.
