An American Classical Mahogany D-End Dining Table, early 19th Century attributed to John Needles, Baltimore, the top with reeded edge above a molded apron opening to receive two leaves, raised on turned and reeded legs ending in balls, height 29.5in., width 44in. depth 39.5in E2000-3000 Note: The bold turning and distinctive reeding of the legs on this table correlates to other examples of Baltimore Classical furniture. The use of this reeding in connection with the work of distinguished Quaker cabinet maker John Needles can be found in: Gregory Weidman, Furniture in Maryland, 1740-1940, The Maryland Historical Society, Baltimore, 1984, p. 159, along with numerous other examples from the Needles shop.
