An American Classical Mahogany Games Table, early 19th c., Philadelphia, the D-shaped foldover top swiveling to reveal a well retaining original paper lining, the conforming apron centered by a carved foliate tablet; on demilune elliptical support centering a Roman arch, a rectangular plinth bordered in coin molding joined by scrolled and leaf-carved saber legs mounted by concentric beehive-turned bosses, on gilt bronze foliate feet, in original condition, height 29 3/8 in., width 36 in., depth 18 in.
- Notes: Note: The demilune support on this table is rarely seen from Philadelphia cabinet makers and is directly inspired by Regency forms. A related sofa table is illustrated in Margaret Jourdain's Regency Furniture (fig. 137, p. 67) and is captioned as having a "U" shaped support.
