Evans & Co., New York, N.Y., c. 1855-1865, second mark overstruck with "NEW ORLEANS" upcurved fiddle thread handle with wavy shoulders, the pierced shapedblade with engraved foliate scrolls and flowers surround a fish, length 11.75in., weight 3 troy ozs., 14 dwts. E500/750 Note: Evans hadbeen a salesman for William Gale & Son, 1850-55, and John Cook, a foreman for same firm. They were partners of Theo. Evans & Co., associated with the southern trade.
