An American Cypress Table Cheval, 19th c., an exceedingly rare form of two wide boards on mortised and pegged "saw horses". E18000-25000 Note: This table derives from very early French sources, primarily the well-known "LE MENUISIER EN MEUBLES S.A. ROUBO 1772", which illustrates a very similar top and base; additionally, in the eighteenth century these types of tables were used as dining tables covered with the floor table cloth within even such grand residences as the Chateau Versailles. Provenance: To the present owner from the historic Cormier-Thibodeaux house (now moved to the Acadian Village) in Lafayette, Louisiana.
