An American Early Victorian Mahogany Serpentine Settee, c. 1850, withlow back and arched molded ends, carved and scrolled arms, molded seat rail, scrolled brackets flanking square molded feet, height 38 in., length 77 in., width 22 in. E2500/3500 Provenance: The Estate of James Joseph Plauche, Jr. Plauche inherited this and the following lot as well as the portraits offered as lots 419 through 421, from his grandmother, Mrs. Walter Chew Flower, nee Adele McCall. Shown oppositeabove are Mrs. Flower and interior views of her home which include theportraits and furnishings offered here. The Flower residence, 1805 Coliseum Street, was home to three New Orleans mayors: Flower, Shakespear and Morrison.
