An American Egyptian Revival Laminated Mahogany and Inlaid Boudoir Chair, c. 1880-1884, stamped Herter Brothers, New York, the shaped winged back with a satinwood and mother-of-pearl foliate shield- shaped cartouche, shaped saddle seat and saber legs with lightwood stringing overall. E2500-3500 Note: The innovative use of laminated mahogany facilitates the distinctive incurvate back of this boudoir chair and provides a dramatic setting for the incorporation of the mother-of-pearl inlay which bespeaks an unmistakable Herter style.
