An American Gilt Bronze and Églomisé Four-Light Girandole, mid-19th c., attributed to H.N. Hooper, cartouche form frame decorated with leaves and flowers, the reverse glass panel showing castle ruins and a boy fishing, the branches issuing urn-shaped foliate candle nozzles, height 18 1/2 in., width 20 in., depth 6 1/2 in.
- Notes: Note: Henry N. Hooper and Co., Boston, depicted related girandoles in their 1850 catalogue. Each having identical candlearms and floral decor as this offered lot. The catalogue is reproduced in full in 19th Century Elegant Lighting by Gerald Gowitt, p. 34.
