Lot 210
Description:
An American Gothic Carved Walnut Serving Table, mid-19th c., Baltimore, rectangular top, drawer and return frieze paneled with blind quatrefoils, faceted and fluted legs with vasiform terminals, lower shelf with shaped profile, gallery back, "turnip" feet, height 29 in., width 36 in., depth 18 in.
- Notes: Note: Gothic ornament, as seen on the table here, was favored by Baltimore cabinet makers for the mixing table form. This example eschews a case for robust faceted, fluted and turned supports in the manner of Hugh Finlay or William Camp. Reference: Among the American Gothic case -form mixing tables is a rare cabinet signed by Hamilton Noblit and offered in these rooms as lot 135, November 20, 2010.
