An American Late Classical Mahogany Secretary Bookcase, c. 1810-20, Baltimore, the molded cornice with an inset arch frieze over a pair of glazed doors with anthemion mullions, reeded stiles; the lower case with a gothicized full-front secretaire drawer with fitted interior of birdseye maple, the colonettes flanking paneled cabinet doors below, a blocked plinth on carved scroll feet (reduced), height 103.5in., width 46.5in., depth 23.5in. E3000-5000 Note: The carved mullions and the design proportions of the lower case in this example are similar to those in a signed secretary by the Baltimore cabinet maker Anthony Jenkins, sold as Neal Auction Company lot 395 on December 6, 2003, and to several other Baltimore case pieces illustrated in Weidman, Furniture in Maryland 1740-1940, pl. 102-103, pp. 142-143.
