An American Louis XVI-Style Side Table, early 20th c., labeled Irving & Casson, A.H. Davenport Co., square marble top above a drawer and shelf, on turned legs, the whole with grisaille paint, decorated with leaves, bellflowers and paterae, height 28 1/4 in., width 16 in., depth 16 in.
- Notes: Note: Boston decorators and cabinet makers Irving and Casson specialized in interior woodwork and mantels beginning in 1875 and also produced furniture in the 17th and 18th century modes, such as the table here. In 1914 or 1916 the firm merged with another noted East Cambridge furniture maker, A.H. Davenport. The merged firm executed a number of chapel commissions including those at Duke University and the University of Pittsburgh, as well as objects for Louis Comfort Tiffany.
