An American 'Petal and Loop' Amethyst Pressed Glass Compote, c. 1845, the bowl and round base in a pattern of bold, vertical ovoid petals, on a short hexagonal stem, probably Pittsburgh or Wheeling manufacture, height 6 in., diameter 8.5in. Note: abrasions on interior. Provenance: From the estate of the noted New Orleans antiquarian, Juanita Elfert, who purchased it from the Grima Family.
