An American Renaissance Burled and Incised Walnut Innovative Writing Desk, late 19th c., Wooten, Indiana, 1875 Wooten patent label, spindled gallery top with inset leather writing surface, frieze drawers, fitted rotary cupboard on one side, chamfered turned legs, height 36 in., width 40 1/2 in., depth 26 in.
- Notes: Note: The design for this desk appears in the 1876 Wooten Desk catalogue as model "No. 5, Single Pier--Office (Desk)". Best known for manufacture of large "Cabinet Secretaries", the Wooten Company used innovative techniques to produce a variety of smaller scale convertible furniture such as the lot seen here.
