An American Renaissance Carved Walnut Sideboard, mid-19th c., Baltimore, the arched backsplash crested with anthemia and a roundel of gamebirds, fruiting festoons below with two tiers of shelves; lower case with D-end cabinet doors with carved panels, flanking two drawers and a pair of doors with fox heads in high relief, conforming plinth, height 86 in., width 73 1/2 in., depth 25 1/2 in. Note: A very similar walnut sideboard attributed to a Baltimore maker that has two shelves on the backsplash, a juxtaposition of Neo-Grec and carved animal decoration, and blocked, D-ended case is illustrated in Wiedman, Furniture in Maryland, p. 246, pl. 232.
