An American Renaissance Highly Carved Mahogany Brass and Inlaid Sofa, c. 1880, attributed to Charles Tisch, New York (wc. 1871-1889), the triple back with scrolled sunflower rosettes and garland swagged crest centered by an acanthus, the frieze with inlaid lightwood vines and brass flower heads, sloping padded arms in the form of winged griffins, the inlaid seat rail with conforming inlaid brackets and pierced scrolls, on bulbous turned legs ending in tiered lobed feet with casters, height 52 in., width 72 in., depth 23 in.
- Notes: Note: Furniture by Tisch won a first prize medal at the 1884 New Orleans World's Industrial and Cotton Exposition.
