An American Renaissance Walnut and Burl Walnut Bedroom Suite, c. 1855 1865, comprising a bedstead and monumental dresser, the bed with architectural headboard and cabochon center palmette crest flanked by waterleaf, reeded and gadrooned half-columns topped by finials, over a conforming arched panelled foot board and scrolling incised, paneled rails, dresser: height 116 in., width 61 in., depth 22 in., bed: height 101 in., width 69 in., length 85 in. E12000/18000 Note: Sold in these salesrooms October 1992. Interestingly this bed and dresser of finely figured circassion walnut veneers and gilt incising, together with its Neo-Grec turned columns and specific deep carved leaf volutes relates closely in elements and materials to the historic "Rockefeller Bedroom Suite" (ref.: Neal Auction Company, October, 1992.)
