An American Rococo Carved Mahogany Half-Tester Bed, mid-19th c., New Orleans, ogee molded tester, tapered turned posts, exuberant brackets, C and S carved headboard surmounted by a shell, conforming foot board and rails, highly figured veneers throughout, height 109 1/2 in., length 83 in., width 62 5/8 in.
PLEASE NOTE: Provenance: Deaccessioned from the George Peabody College (now part of Vanderbilt University). By family repute, descended in the Claiborne family of Louisiana.
