An American Rococo Carved Rosewood Half-Tester Bed, mid- 19th c., the beaded and molded original tester supported by Gothicized tall posts and having a paneled headboard topped by a shell-work carved crest and centering a foliate pendant of carved flowers. E7000-9000 9000 Provenance: The Estate of May Belle Taylor Bartlett, Historic Oak Hurst, Como, Mississippi. Como was established in 1856, and has always been a small, but very prosperous cotton plantation community. In his 1907 Mississippi, Dunbar Rowland discusses in some detail the annual cotton production from Como p. 489 The Estate also includes many objects passed down from early 19th century Yarbrough family antecedents in nearby Holly Springs, Mississippi.
