Lot 897
Description:
An American Rococo Carved Rosewood Washstand, mid-19th c., probably New Orleans, the original white marble top lacking a backsplash, long drawer, paneled doors, beaded molding, shelved interior, ovolo plinth, bun feet, casters, height 33 1/2 in., width 36 in., depth 20 in., en suite.
- Notes: Note: The distinctive volutes, bead molding and plinth on this washstand relate to other pieces in the suite offered here and to the armoire in the suite from Prudent Mallard at Lansdowne; the proportions and panels of this washstand are very close to those on a documented Mallard washstand at Gallier House in New Orleans.
