An American Rococo Cast Iron Settee in the 'Urn of Blossoms' Pattern, mid-19th c., the back with cresting urn of flowers above a female mask, interlocking ovals centered by rosettes, C and S scrolls terminating in volutes, the serpentine seat with circular pierced Gothic roundels, scalloped conforming seat rail on floral and acanthus cabriole legs ending in scrolled toes, height 41.5in., width 46 in., depth 15 in. Note: This rare bench is identical, excepting its appointment of the impressive urn and flowers, to the bench catalogued as plate 171 in the 1970 exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art '19th Century American Furniture and Other Decorative Arts.'
