An American Rosewood, Burled Walnut and Bronze-Mounted Armchair, c. 1865, New York, attributed to Pottier and Stymus, the crest displaying a bronze plaque with a procession of cavorting putti pulling a chariot and flanked by trailing clusters of parcel gilt berries, the sides ornamented by gilt and green cold-painted bronze mounts representing bunches of cattails issuing grotesque masks, the padded arms on incurvate supports above a bowed seat raised on turned legs, height 44 in.
