Meeks Makers, No. 14 Vesey St., New York' the flared cornice with a pierced scrollwork pediment above glazed doors on a cylinder desk base with well-fitted interior and pull-out writing surface, pierced scrollwork cabinet doors below raised on bracket feet, extensively lined in satinwood throughout, height 97.75in., width 48.75in., depth 23.25in. Note: The cornice, desk interior, cylinder desk form, and overall proportions of this example are very close to a labeled mahogany desk by Meeks conserved by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and illustrated in Davidson and Stillinger, The American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, pp. 172-173, fig. 266.
