An Anglo-Indian Carved Sandalwood, Ivory, and Sadeli Mosaic Workbox, mid-to-late 19th c., the stepped-top rectangular coffer on bronze paw feet, elaborately carved with buildings, fountains, and animals amongst vining plants and flowers surrounded by ivory and sadeli inlay, the interior fitted with compartments and implements for sewing, with a drawer below for writing, height 6.75 in., length 17 in., depth 11in E1500-2000 Note: Sadeli mosaic is an intricate marquetry of ivory, wood, tin and silver set in geometric patterns.
