An Antique Gorham Sterling Silver Racing Trophy, 1874, the base fully marked; with bridled thoroughbred horse head handles, a later presentation inscription: "The Louisiana Derby/$15000 Added/One Mile And A Furlong/March 19, 1949/Won By Rookwood/Owned By/Joe W. Brown", the shoulder with chased grape clusters and vines, on a waisted and beaded base on four shaped feet, height 12 in., width with handles 19 in., diameter 12 in., approx. weight 103 troy ozs., 6 dwts. E10000- 15000 Note: Mr. Joe W. Brown was a notable business figure and personality within the intersecting circles of oil and gas, gaming, horse racing and philanthropy. The Joe W. and Dorothy Brown Foundation remains a testament to Brown's achievements.
