An Antique Silver Spectacles Case, c. 1850, probably American, unmarked, rectangular shape with rounded ends, hinged cover, engine- turned decoration with an engraved vignette of a town on the cover and engraved name 'L.H. Pilie' on bottom side, gold spectacles of the period enclosed, 4.75 in. x 1.25 in. E300-500 Provenance: Louis H. Pilie, New Orleans, City Surveyor, who was the first to address the design of New Orleans drainage problem in 1857. He was also involved in the Place d'Armes (Jackson Square) and the Girod Asylum.
