An English 18 kt. Gold, Oval Agate and Oriental Pearl Mourning Set, c 1830, comprising a brooch, a stick pin and a ring, with elaborately engraved shank, and an oval glass compartment on underside for placing a lock of hair or photograph. E3000/5000 Provenance: Descended in the family of Ellen Elizabeth Latrobe Wilson (d. 1991), who was married to Samuel Wilson, Jr. Mrs. Wilson was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and was the great-great-granddaughter of Benjamin Henry Boneval Latrobe (1764-1820), the prominent American architect and engineer. Benjamin Latrobe and his son, Henry, worked onlocal projects in the early 19th century. They both died of yellow fever in New Orleans.
