An English Louis XVI-Style Ebonized Hardwood, Boulle, Ormolu and Pietra Dura Cabinet, c. 1860, London, the shaped top outlined in finely cast and chased gilt bronze molding, the frieze mounted with foliate guilloche, the central door displaying a floral hardstone plaque within a beribboned laurel wreath and flanked by fully articulated Corinthian columns, the flutes with brass fillets, the quarter-round cabinets with glazed doors opening to velvet-lined shelves, the plinth ornately embellished with ormolu, on toupie feet, height 48 in., width 68 in., depth 21 in. E6000-9000 Note: This cabinet is typical of those made by the leading London cabinet shops of the mid-19th c., most notably Jackson and Graham, and Wright and Mansfield; both firms are known to have produced fine examples based on 18th c. French furniture that were often intended as exhibition pieces.
