An Extraordinarily Rare Newcomb College Art Pottery Matte Glaze Boudoir Lamp and Shade, 1916, especially commissioned by Lenna Gertrude Clarke Judd, decorated by Sadie Irvine, beautifully modeled with Louisiana irises, bulbous trumpet form base with conjoined monogram "LCJ", mushroom form shade with three iris blossoms and foliage, blue, green and yellow underglaze, fully marked with Newcomb cipher, decorator's mark, Joseph Meyer's potter's mark, reg. no. IB66, shape no. 57 and retaining original paper label, with original wiring and light fittings, overall height 19 1/2 in., diameter 9 in., base height 10 5/8 in., shade height 3 1/2 in., shade diameter 9 in.
