An Iberian Crimson Painted Pinewood and Parcel-Gilt Mirror and Console of Impressive Proportions in the Renaissance Taste, mid-19th c., the arched mirror plate with an architectural molded frame displaying angels and foliate pendant chains, each anthropomorphic caryatid surmounted by a grotesque mask raised above a pair of dolphins, and with mirrored surrounds, the console having a recessed rectilinear top bordered by lozenge gadrooning, the frieze drawer displaying a recumbent Bacchus, the supports in the form of opposing eagles, their bodies draped in clusters of fruit, the feet resting on a trestle base surmounted by a large knopped finial, height 98 in., width 54 in., depth 25 in.
