An Important American Carved Rosewood and Rosewood Grained Bedstead, mid-19th c., the massive strapwork crest flanked by foliate and grape carved scrolls; the arched paneled headboard flanked by carved stiles the foot board with incurvate pediment and rounded corners, straight rails with brackets and shaped feet, bearing an old paper label from the Tuthill Studio, New York, "estate" surface, height 100 in., width 63 in., length 81 in. E10000-15000 Note: The bold naturalistic carving on the headboard, the proportions of the headboard, stiles and the carved footboard with shaped feet are very similar to the well known Mitchell and Rammelsberg bed in the "Lincoln" bedroom of the White House.
