Description:
An Important American Classical Mahogany Miniature Armchair, c. 1830, Boston, after a design by Thomas King, the scrolled crest articulated with lotus leaves emanating from volutes, the splat carved with palmette, foliate medallion, a shaped horizontal bar with scrolls and raised molding; each arm raised on "S" scroll lotus-carved supports; the slip seat retaining original webbing and plush covering, the paneled seat rail resting on turned and stop-fluted legs headed by relief carved rosettes.
- Notes: Note: Many design elements on this chair are derived from Thomas King's 1829 Book of Household Furniture, a pattern book of High Regency forms widely used by Boston cabinetmakers.
