An Important Innovative Neo-classical-Style American Coin Silver Presentation Cup and Saucer, Gorham & Company, Providence, Rhode Island, maker, Hyde & Goodrich, New Orleans, retailer, Gorham trademark of 1848-65 period, incised "COIN", "70", and "HYDE & GOODRICH", circular body on a flared foot, floral and leaf chased bandencircling the cup forming a circular reserve opposite the flat angular handle, engraved "To/Jennie N. Griswold/From The/Quatro Fraternity/December 13, 1859", in a combination of script, Gothic and cap, applied silver beads at intervals just below the lip, the deep flat-bottom saucer with similar decoration, large punch cup size with traces of gilt interior, overall height 3.375in, saucer diameter 5. 125in., weight 9 troy ozs., 11 dwts.
