Description:

An Indian Head Eagle Ten Dollar Gold Coin, 1915, United States. E200- 400 Provenance: Forstall Family, New Orleans. Note: Designed by American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907), the Indian Head coin was one of several minted at President Theodore Roosevelt's instigation. The coin featured above bears the motto 'In God We Trust' originally missing from the coins commissioned by Roosevelt, who objected to the inscription on any coin or bill. The motto was instated on the Indian Head coin by Congress in 1908.
