An Italian Carrara Marble Sculpture of the "Augustus of Prima Porta", c. 1883, after Orazio Andreoni (Italian, 19th c.), signed "Andreoni Roma 1883", a variant of the 1st c. Roman marble found at the villa of Livia in Prima Porta and presently at the Vatican Museum in Rome, height 42 1/2 in., width 23 in., depth 20 1/2 in.

  • Notes: Note: A popular sculptor in his hometown of Rome, Andreoni was also highly regarded in England and the United States. Many of his works are in prominent public and private collections in these countries, including a pair of Monumental Bronze Lions from 1893 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, various sculptures in the Gardens of York House in Twickenham, England, and a Statue of Hamlet in Dorset, England.
