An Italian Majolica Cup and Cover, late 18th/early 19th c., possibly Castelli, the body with a pastoral scene of figures amid Classical ruins, the cover and foot with putti amid garlands, height 14 1/2 in., diameter 8 in. Note: Prototypes for this urn are larger mid-18th c. Castelli cups from the Gentili and Grue family workshops, such as examples from the Sackler Collection sales (Christie's, New York, October 6, 1993, lot 64; and Christie's, New York, June 1, 1994, lots 53-54).
