An Italian Verdi Marble Sculpture of "Il Porcellino", late 19th c., after the 1612 bronze fountain by Pietro Tacca (Italian, 1577-1640), now in The Museo Bardini, Florence (itself a copy of a Hellenistic marble housed in The Uffizi, Florence); the densely carved figure of the wild boar depicted resting with hind legs bent, height 8 1/2 in., width 8 1/4 in., depth 5 3/4 in., on a rectangular self base.
