Turtle frequently left Chicago¹s cold weather to enjoy the warmer climate and inviting artistic community centered in the French Quarter during the 1940s. While in New Orleans, he actively exhibited at Joseph S. W. Harmanson¹s Royal Street Bookstore, New Orleans Art League and Delgado Museum of Art (today New Orleans Museum of Art).
