E1000/1500 Provenance: Estate of Al Rose New Orleans. Note: African-American photographer Arthur P. Bedou had a prominent photography studio in New Orleans. Bedou became well- known for his portraits of jazz musicians and for documenting the life of Booker T. Washington. This picturesque image of a canoe in the moonlight reveals Bedou's talent as art photographer. A selection of Bedou's photographs are currently on tour in the exhibition "Reflections in Black: Smithsonian African American Photography, The First One Hundred Years, 1842-1942".
